The British Council joined with St Andrews University and the Qatar Foundation Research Division to organise Qatar’s first Astronomy conference, the conference marked by public astronomy events such as the Astrophotography Exhibition.
Visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to visit the Green Emirates Mobile Observatory, with guided tours by its Head and Founder, Nazar Sallam.
Visitors were able to exclusively see day and night time planet and satellite observations, a telescope and astro gear show, an exhibition of real meteorites using a digital specialist microscope and the mobile planetarium tent.
The innovative World at Night programme created and presented stunning photographs of the world’s most beautiful and historic sites. against breathtaking backdrops of stars, planets, and celestial events. The exhibition aimed to demonstrate that the eternally peaceful sky looks the same above all the symbols of different nations and regions – a powerful testament that compels us to envision Earth as a single, unified world floating in the vast cosmic ocean, rather than as an amalgam of human-delineated territories.
