An illuminating tour of the universe! Maggie’s passion for astronomy and clear explanations provided for an excellent lecture for 7 year olds to seasoned experts! Thanks for putting on a great event!

The year’s Café Scientifique ‘Shedding Light on the Universe’ featured Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE in conversation with the distinguished Professor Ilham Al-Qaradawi.

Café Scientifique is a grassroots public science initiative currently running in more than 40 towns across the United Kingdom and cities in other countries. This was the fourth Café Scientifique in Qatar organised by the British Council.

This year we aimed to promote UNESCO’s International Year of Light and attract a diverse audience of students and the general public to the event.  In addition to the main marketing channels, posters were distributed across campuses in Qatar and we contacted major science interest groups and key university staff in the field.
